Solar Hot Water

The ProgressivTube® passive solar water heater is a low profile, self-contained, single unit system with no additional storage tank requirements.  Proven one of the most efficient solar systems by American testing and certification agencies, the ProgressivTube® system meets or exceeds all American plumbing and building codes, and are virtually maintenance free over  their twenty-five year design life.

The ProgressivTube® requires only local water pressure and solar radiation to operate - no pumps, controls, mechanical or electrical components are required. The system can be installed either by itself (stand-alone), or as a pre-heater for conventional water heater.

ProgressivTube Hot Water Heater Cross-sectionWhether your purchase decision is determined by a need to reduce your JPS bill, a short return on investment or a long life-cycle - ProgresivTube® Solar Water heaters will exceed your expectations, much as they did for the U.S. Coast Guard, and Sandals Resorts.

How it works

The copper collector/storage tank absorbs solar radiation through its selective surface coating and raises the temperature of the water stored in the collector.

The 4" diameter copper tubes are welded into a series flow pattern so that the top of the lower tube feeds the bottom of the next tube. This allows the collector to contain the colder replacement water in the lower tubes where it is heated by the sun as it flows from one tube to the next. Each time hot water is used, the innovative design eliminates the cooling down of the remaining heated water that normally occurs in other types of solar water heating systems.  Closed cell foam and double-glazing increases heat retention.

Not only does this design ensure the delivery of the hottest water, but it also provides more hot water at a higher temperature, and with a faster recovery time than solar systems of similar capacity.
